Studying Motion with Digital Cameras:

1. Use video camera to capture motion
  • one original launch of the gummi bear, and
  • a second jump with a deliberate attempt to change the factor (recorded in step #1) that you think will improve the elevation of the wedge or to change the weight of the gummi bear).

2. Measure and record the results of the launches and observations made during the experiment in Table 1 below. You should share and
figure out ways to resolve the problem to help each other improve their results.

3. Upload and analyze the motion using MS Moviemaker and use it to explain your ideas on how to improve a real long jump (as annotation on
Moviemaker). Your explanation should include a detailed description of the motion of the gummi bear in the following three positions of the
launch for all attempts: i. just as it leaves the spoon

  • at the highest point of motion
  • just as it lands.
